Snippet of Dad & me

When I was a kid Dad bought me a spiral bound notebook. He put my name on it and sometimes when we had special time together we would talk about God. The notebook was for things we discussed about God. I was young enough that he did the writing for me.

One time we took the notebook and walked to Blomberg Pharmacy where I loved to buy candy and baseball cards. But what that I remember from that day is a little snippet of the conversation on the way back home. He asked me big questions about what God was like; bigger questions than a little kid my age would have had an answer for, but they made me think.

I was struck by the bigness of God and the sense that He was there even though I didn’t really understand Him.

That memory is like a slice of a movie that was clipped out and saved for me. But it’s almost a feeling more than a memory. It reminds me today of how so many people must feel who don’t really know much about God.

Someday I hope to find that notebook again. Or maybe I'll start a new one. Maybe this time I'll do the writing.
